Nepal's Hydro-power
Posted by viju at 6:02 AM
On the other hand, with rapid economic development India's power requirements have shot up, especially in her less developed north and north eastern states which fortunately lie within transmittable distance from Nepal; therefore, the demand-supply equilibrium seems perfect. Nevertheles, because of the protracted political instability and excessive politicization of the subject we have been losing the opportunity, even to Bhutan.
As water resources related joint-ventures between Nepal and India in the past proved more beneficial to the latter, mainly becaude of our poor technical and negotiation abilities during those days, now any hydro-power joint-venture deal will be more than enough to overthrow the decision maker with labels of taitor and Indian puppet; accusations of selling out to India will shower from all directiona-ultra-left and ultra-right 'nationalists' energy sector middle-men, transnational' environmentalists' INGO and NGOs, so-called civil society leaders, a section of the Press and so on.

Nepal; Comparative Advantage Discussions

It is true that agricultural products identified in the report like big cardamom, ginger, honey, lentils, tea, dairy product, sugar and medicinal berbs have EP. Nonetheless, farm supplies are mostly too little in quantity to lure or capture reliable export markets besides being too law in value-added. As such, the whole agriculture sector needs to be restructured and its capacity enhanced with an integrated approach on raising production and productivity, promoting value addition and balancing domestic demands and exports.
'Iron and steel' has been identified on the basis of recent export surge of iron rods. But first, we cannot rely on single market as it may collapse anytime depending on the destination country's tarrif and more importantly, a commodity whose every raw material is imported and whose power requirement is very high cannot be defined as having CA, especially in a power- deficit power high cost country; and EPs without CAs do not make sense.
Accessorizing your bike
Posted by viju at 1:15 AM
Accessories like seat cover and disc locks make bikes comfortable and keep them from getting stolen.
A disc lock is a bike having an instrument which can be installed on to a bike having a disc brake. It uses the holes in a bikes disc brake. A locking pin passes through the hole in the disc brake preventing the tires from moving. And for bikes without a disc brake, wheel locks are often used. This is a rod like instrument which passes through the front wheel. Apart from the accessories mentioned above stickers can be considered as a common trend in the bike gadgets. People paste stickers on their bikes to make them colorful and attractive. But adding attractiveness is not the only thing a sticker will do. Pasting stickers prevents genuine parts from getting scratched in case of accidents. In most cases, the tank of the bike gets scratched quite fast and a sticker does a good job. There is also the options of a tank guard. Tank guard are covers that can be placed on top of a bikes tank. Such tank guards are mostly made up of leather but they also come in jeans and plastic material.
Along with stickers neon lights can also be installed to decorate the bike and make it attractive.

Chicken and egg condrum solved
Posted by viju at 5:21 AM
British scientists claim to have solved one of the great mysterious of life, the universe and everything in it. They say the chicken come before the egg and they are not mincing words.
According to a report in the Metro, "It had long been suspected that the egg came first, but now we have the scientific proof that shows that in fact the chicken came first." Sheffield University's Colin Freeman.
Researchers from Scotland and England used a supercomputer called HECTOR to look in such detail at a chicken eggshell that they were able to determine the vital role of protein used to kickstart the egg's formation.
Freeman said the protein had been identified earlier by scientists and was known to be linked to egg formation,"but by examining it closely we have been able to see how it controls the process." he added.
Proffessor John Harding," Understanding how chickens male shells in fascinating in itself, but can also give clues towards designing new materials."
Which is good, because in spite of HECTOR's hard work and the "scientific proof" it yielded, the study offered no explanation as to how the chicken got there in the first place.
If not from an egg, perhaps it just come from across the road.

Football World Cup
Posted by viju at 3:23 AM
Most football pundits were predicting that there would be a tough competition for the cup between as teams like Argentina and Brazil. However, in retrospection, it looks like the predictions were made a little too early. by now, its clear that one of the European teems would take the cup home. And I wouldn't be surprised if that team is Germany.

Maxists believe that human actions and institutions are economically determined. Class struggle is needed to create historocal change. In the end, communism will replace capitalism and everyone will live happily ever after. It is a deterministic way of understanding political processes. Politics, however, continues to be what it was during the time of Ottovan Bismarck:The art of the possible of the two Germans, it seems the Iron Chancellor had a better grasp of ground realities than the revolutionary ideologue.
Premier Madhav Kumar Nepal is a lapsed Marxist. Even if he continues to believe in the Communist Manifesto, he has managed to keeps his faith private. In public, he presents himself as a master of realpolitic. For the umpteenth time, he said that he was ready to resign. He left his readiness undefined. Since no political theory can explain has elevation to the high office, only politics can show the way of his ouster. Political science has no prescription to deal with the trust deficit between the leading politicos of the country.
Endow with security

This is not the first time people have been shot dead in the busy area in daytime. The government doesn't seem serious in safeguarding people's lives and belonging .Government officials and other VIPs are enjoying a comfortable, secured life and they have no time to think about the commoner's safety. The law and order situation has deteriorated so much so that commoner's feel insecure all the time.
Home minister Bhim Rawal is always saying that the law and order situation has improved. However, the incident in Butwal clearly depicts the security condition in the country. It's really disgusting to know that police arrived at the spot half an hour late despite the fact that the police station was just 200 meters away.
These days the criminals are performing their misconducts with ease. They usually find preferable surrounding for their misconducts. The main reason I think is the security personal's indifference to crime. Moreover, the criminals receive political support.I urge the government to take law and order situation seriously and ensure everyone's safety.
Protect yourself popular life

The popularity of an insurance company today depends just not on its customer service but also the diverse varieties of products that it launches in the market to get more customers. Many people today take in account the quality of products while purchasing insurance products.
Realizing this fact, insurance companies are relying heavily on insurance products and this has resulted into a rigorous competition among insurance companies for producing the best insurance products in the market.
Insurance companies- established and newcomers alike-are adopting the policy of 'devising lucrative products to capture the market' to grow amid cutthroat competition in the market, said Son Bahadur Magar, manager of Life Insurance Corporation Nepal's Kamaladi branch. Magar said Jeevan Anand Life Insurance policy of LIC is doing very well in the market.
The Jeevan Anand policy is one of the most sold insurance products of LIC (Nepal) and it is through this pokicy that we have been able to attract many cpstomers, Magar said adding,"Through this product, insurer can get both the bonus as well as the insurance amount after the maturity of the policy. As the policy also has the provision of free risk coverage up to whole life even after the payment of the policy, this provides double benefit to the insurer."
Boosting Exports
Posted by viju at 3:06 AM
Boosting exports and curbing imports is the best way to lower the alarming deficit in the country's Balance of Payment. This is a general classroom theory in economics but very difficult to translate in practice. Yes, the government has many means to check imports -it can raise custom duties, choke credit flow to sectors that are overheated and bring policies to substitute imports through domestic production, at least in the agriculture sector-but the million dollar question is: How can it boost exports at a time when basic requirements for industrialization such as infranstructure, power and security is at its weakest?
Even Nepal's traditional exportable products like woolen carpets and readymade garments, to name a few , are battling hard to survive. Not that there were no attempts from the government to revive the export sector. Export duties were lowered and arrangements were made for low-interest financing but the outcome has continued to remain pessimistic simply because most of the efforts were launched haphazardly without identifying the main reason behind decline in exports. The continuously declining contribution of the manufacturing sector to the country's total output itself is a testimony of our failed industrial policy. Against this background, the recommendations put forward by Trade Intergration Strategy study, which was made public last week,is welcome in the sense that it has at least identified commodities and services with export potential. It is agood start but there are lots of others issues that need to be solved before we can expect to see a robust boost in our export figures.
Disability issue
Posted by viju at 3:14 AM
All humans are created equal. however people a;; over the world discriminate against persons with disability (PWD). Nobody has taken seriously the hardships that Nepal's nearly 3 million PWDs have to go through everybody.
In Nepal, most of the PWDs are from disadvantage and marginalized groups. The discrimination starts from the family because many families think having a PWD member is a burden and as such they opt to send the disabled child to an orphanage or a disability care center, rather than provide the disabled child with good education. Why do the parents in Nepal think this way? One of the reasons for this is that our society and physical infranstructures are not disabled-friendly.
People tend to focus on disability more than the ability of PWDs which makes them doubly discriminated. For example, the constituent assembly has only two PWD members.
This is new Nepal and everything is changing, but PWDs situation has not changed at all. Therefore, it is about time PWDs asked all stakeholders why they are not taking the situation seriously. To end the discrimination against PWDs goverment should strictly implement anti-discrimination laws.
